Agreed. Pitch framing is not something I watch baseball for. Take the arguments out and rely on the technology, but avoid the review process - that just takes too much time. Tennis has a good system in place, model on that.
Can technology be woven into the game more effectively? I will probably get some pushback, but if the ball touches the strike zone, I'd give the ump SOME benefit of the doubt, but in that Soto at bat pitch 5 was clearly a ball even with the best framing in the world.
We have tech than can give umps feedback in real time for balls-strikes. As long as the strike zone is adjusted properly (Altuve versus Judge for example) I think it can be used as a tool to improve the calls. Geez, 100 mph fastballs are hard to track. Umpires jobs are difficult. Real time feedback can help if properly managed.
