Roster construction is bad but not as bad as they’re playing right now. To me it’s the demeanor and attitude of the players that is infuriating. No energy. No hussle. Poor baseball IQ. DJ not running hard and when he does he’s old and slow. Volpe not running through home plate and then figuring out what happened. Torres’s many examples of both. This should have been corrected back in AA ball. And should never be tolerated at MLB level. Leadership is lacking. Boone and Cash and the poor culture they’ve allowed to fester and grow needs to be replaced.
I'm not at the place where I blame leadership yet. Torres is the serial offender here, but this hasn't been a problem for LeMahieu and especially Volpe previously. I think these kinds of low-hustle moments happen on most teams.
Yes Judge was brought up in this culture. Hard for him to deviate from it. Soto was not and you can see the difference. Oswaldo followed Soto’s example earlier but has slid back to the ‘default’ attitude he was brought up in.
I'm sure I've been a Yankee fan a lot longer than you have and I am not happy about the current situation either. But to blame Cashman is a bit too easy. There's lots of blame to go around. (George would have fired him by now - as well as the whole coaching staff.) 😉
I would hold the GM responsible for pretty much anything other than ownership issues. He could fire a bunch of people, but developing young hitters has been a persistent problem during his tenure.
Ben Rice must have read this before today's game. 😉

Judge is the captain. He carries the team along with Soto. But if what you say is true does he bare some of the responsibility?
