I think the pro case is that he’s basically no drama. The clubhouse does seem to genuinely get along under his leadership. The drawback is that I think a lot of those good vibes come from his embrace of veterans, and unwavering confidence in his players even when they are obviously failing, which leads to a lot of the strategic failures you outlined
As I've thought since the final 5 interviews in October/November 2017 to replace Girardi, whoever was going to be named the next manager, would be the manager in name only, and NOTHING that has gone on since has proven me wrong.
With the above said, what will change if Boone is replaced? Has anything really changed since firing HC Dillon Lawson almost 2 years ago? If it has, I cannot see it. Are we still going to be stuck with Luis Rojas as the 3B Coach, the guy that Cashman interviewed THEN invited Boone to meet him to have a conversation? Oh, Boone was at his home in New Jersey, and it's not like Boone couldn't have come a few hours earlier for the interview.
If anything drastically changes, then either Cashman must sit down to his own presser and answer all the hard questions, but he won't, and he will allow Boone to take all the blame. Chances are that nothing will really change. Boone is the front man, the scapegoat. To me Boone is the itch, but Cashman is the rash. I need to get rid of the rash. If I do that, the itch goes away too.
Please note, as much as I don't blame Boone for this yearly mess, I have never given him any credit either when things go right either. My comments about this is what I think is real, not what I'd do. Two VERY different things.
Now EJ, aren't you supposed to be away on vacation? Now, do yourself a favor and forget about this Yankee garbage,
Currently checking the Wild Card standings. Yay.

Any other team would have fired the manager by now.
