Maybe, but top tier closers are usually starting with a clean inning anyway.

Since late May though he hasn't been consistently doing even that. Yes, I see his stats. Other than his so% dropping some since May 20th, everything else really hasn't moved much statwise (if I read things right) . Bad luck, sure. But Holmes has to have some level of missed bats/strike outs to better limit those grounders that find holes. I hope this is not a trend now that we have Chisholm and Torres defensively.

Looking at Leiter's number this year, they look darn good under the hood. He might not be the closer, but he could be a "stopper". Hope he can keep that going.

Do you think he will sign elsewhere?

Probably, but the Yankees did give Chapman a big contract.

The only bad thing about Mariano Rivera’s career is that he set an impossibly high bar for all future Yankee closers.

Partially don't agree. He comes in with the the bases clear, sure he's good. I'm not sure he is the guy to bring in with a guy on second and nobody out (aka extra innings). He's good, not top tier. If he could get the so% up just a little, he would move up the list fast.
